Roji Monster Ice Cream

Here's something to try: ice cream that tastes just as good as it looks.

Located in a small alley close to Gong Cha, Roji Monster Ice Cream Café is a Taiwanese café close to Burwood Station, serving cute monster dessert masterpieces. Although it is Taiwanese based, it is actually a Japanese inspired dessert place! These monsters look really similar to the puppets of the TV show, Sesame Street, and recent, popular posts can be seen via Instagram.

There are five flavours to choose from: milk, uji matcha, cocoa, black sesame and a seasonal special, and on top of that, it comes with edible googly eyes and the option for two side toppings. Toppings include lychee jelly, honeycomb rice dumplings, chocolate sauce and many more.

When I visited the café, we were directed to the ordering station, where we ordered via stamp cards, i.e. what flavour, and what two toppings we wanted, and then paid at the front counter. The steps can be seen below.

My friend Jules ordered black sesame flavour with matcha jelly. I ordered strawberry shaved ice (pink seasonal) with sakura jelly and rice dumplings with hochija jelly. While Jules' black sesame monster tasted toasty and had a slightly nutty element, mine was definitely sweet. I really enjoyed the toppings I chose with mine, because they meshed well together.  At the end, we both were unable to completely finish our monsters, but we felt it was still worth the visit, both for taste and for photos. I left the café  smiling and feeling completely satisfied.

If you're feeling like something sweet for dessert, or you're simply local to Burwood, consider giving Roji Monster Ice Cream a taste.

I finally got to try out the popular dessert place after seeing it so many times on my newsfeed and being recommended by friends. I loved the interior decorations, as they were as cute as the shaved ice monsters themselves. I feel like the place was a bit pricey at $14AUD each but it was overall a lovely experience and for us, we did not have a long wait time like others had said during its initial grand opening earlier this year.

Visit the café at Shop 2/51 Burwood Road 2134. Let us know in the comments your thoughts, or if you have any other food recommendations! We will update you soon with more Jumbleats sessions!

TOUKA Japanese Yakiniku Restaurant

Are you a fan of Japanese cuisine and grilled meat? If so, then read along to find out why this restaurant is my personal favourite for an epic Japanese BBQ feed! TOUKA Japanese Yakiniku Restaurant is a little hidden gem that is tucked away into the small streets of Parramatta. It is literally situated in a fancy modern-day historic house, which is set out beautifully, and elegantly. Source:  Touka Source:  The Fork Not only is the interior extremely luxurious and pleasing to the eye, it is also the delicious food and meat that makes the whole experience amazing. Prices are bit on the steeper side, but it is all well worth it. All dishes were made fresh and delicately. The meat came out presented nicely, and when cooked, it tasted of very high quality. All the meats melt in your mouth, and the wagyu beef selection is definitely something to order when you’re dining here. Friends have similarly agreed and said that it is comparable to...

Frango Bella Vista

Source: Frango Frango charcoal chicken is a Portuguese restaurant chain established in 1992 by the Fernandez family. Frango's dishes are those of generational family recipes incorporating spices from Angola and Charcoal cooking techniques from Portugal. Stating in Petersham in 1992 the restaurant chain now has 5 locations and I decided to visit the one in Bella Vista at  Shop 5, 29-31 Lexington Drive, Bella Vista to see what it was all about. Source: Good Food Charcoal Chicken The Charcoal Chicken was one of the must haves when visiting Frango's, this is due to being featured in a wide range of publications from the Daily Telegraph, Sydney Morning heralds good food guide and food Safari. When ordering you can choose the size of chicken you want from a quarter, half or whole. I recommend you get a whole chicken because it is just that good with it having a sticky and salty skin due to being to perfection on charcoal while still being succulent and juicy in the mi...
